Dumfries And Galloway
Dumfries and Galloway Region is a beautiful part of Scotland situated in the south west corner of the country. It has the benefit of a mild climate due to the effects of the extensive coastal area and the Gulf Stream Drift. There is a varying range of landscape including the Galloway and Moffat hills to the north of the region and the many lovely bays and harbour towns and villages along the extensive coastline. Hill-walking, fishing, sailing, golfing and the whole range of countryside sports are enjoyed. There are many caravan sites across the region giving a wide choice of location. The unspoiled landscape makes the area a haven for those seeking a relaxing and quiet break. The quality of food and drink available across the region is excellent.

The usual round of reports were received from Branch Officials and matters arising discussed. With his three years in the Chair now completed Bill Lawson stood down to be replaced, by acclamation of those present, by Douglas Watt. Deputy Chair and Committee member, Alex Smith was similar proposed and approved. The other committee members had indicated their willingness to continue in place which was agreed by the members. The meeting was concluded with a lively discussion of matters to be brought up at forthcoming National Executive Seminar, giving their representative guidance and information for their participation.
